Pascha Cards for Japan

April 9th, 2011  |  6 Comments

Dear Friends,

This past Sunday, our church school kids made Pascha cards—”Love letters”—for the Orthodox Church in Japan, especially those parishes that have been devastated by the major earthquake and tsunami.

After talking with a friend in Japan, we realized we need a lot more cards for the Churches – hundreds! So, we want to invite church school kids from other churches to also send Pascha cards. They don’t have to arrive on Pascha itself—anytime in the Pascha season is fine.

We can’t promise you’ll receive a reply, but I trust that these cards will be a blessing and encouragement!

Please help us by sending cards to any or all these churches (and if you take photos, send them in so we can post them here! info@stjuvenaly.org):

    What a wonderful idea!
I hope that our parish in London will be able to do likewise.

We will be sending some, but they won’t be in time for Pascha. Thank you for this great suggestion!

Fantastic! I think anytime in the Paschal season is appropriate. Thanks!

We just sent off our Paschal Cards and Icon Cards to the Orthodox Church in Sendai. Thanks for encouraging this worthy project. The church school kids loved preparing them!

This past Sunday, my parish of St. Luke the Evangelist, in Palos Hills, Illinois, dedicated the last Sunday of our school year, to learning about the Orthodox Church in Japan. After a presentation and question session, our children, from preschool up to our teens, drew pictures, made cards, and wrote letters, expressing their concern and love for the people of Japan and their fellow Orthodox. We really appreciated the opportunity to participate in this effort, and to expand our childrens’ awareness of Orthodoxy throughout the world. Our prayers and support through the IOCC are with our brothers and sisters in Christ in Japan.
Christ Is Risen! Indeed He is Risen!
