Stewardship
Aloha! Although Hawaii is truly beautiful, it is also a challenging place to grow a mission. The high cost of living and our relatively small numbers adds to this difficulty. The faithful members of our mission are often stretched thin financially, geographically (this is truly a “big island”—some of our members drive 2-3 hours to church on Sunday) and in terms of time as they struggle to balance multiple jobs.
During the current recession, Hawaii has been hit particularly hard. Many of our members have had to move because of the economy. Our mission has seen a troubling dip in its operating budget, and like many churches, we have struggled each month to make ends meet. We are committed to weathering this storm! But we do depend on the generosity of friends far and near to make this possible. We are grateful for your gifts of love, and your prayers for us!

Designated Funds
In addition to “General” undesignated donations which support the day-to-day operations of the Mission, we have also setup two separate designated accounts:
- Facilities – goes to cover our rent and utilities, and includes monies designated for advertising and community outreach. Just recently, we moved into our own home for the first time. This is a huge step for us! The gift of a place is definitely is not something to be taken for granted—it has been amazing to see how this affects our ministry here in a multitude of ways.
If we don’t need rent at any point, we will roll this into our building fund. - Building Fund – is strictly designated for the purchase land and construction. This is one of our major fundraising goals. We long to have a beautiful Orthodox temple for our worship, and as a witness to all of the people of the island.
“Thine own of thine own we offer unto Thee, on behalf of all and for all.” As these words sound out each day of Liturgy, we are reminded that all we have and hold is form the love of God and truly belongs to Him. Our stewardship should be based on this truth and we simply give back of our first fruits of what we have received in our lives.
“CHRISTIAN STEWARDSHIP” is nothing less than God’s call for us as His people to assist in managing the affairs of this earth with Him. We are called to be “friends of the bridegroom” and “co-workers with the Lord.” Our Stewardship consists of making responsible decisions about our time, health, talents, relationships, property, and all that makes up our lives.
